This a a popular science fiction series about a woman in her 20's named Soonee who lives in a futuristic utopian society called Bay City, but rather than being the perfect world it appears to be, there is much more going on here. In this society, everyone bathes in glowing water that is supposed to prevent them from catching illness and disease. Basically the water cleans you from the inside out and all you have to do is drink it. However, without knowing what goes on within their bodies for them to cure themselves of any sicknesses or diseases they catch, people are still getting sick and dying regularly all throughout society. Through Soonee, the reader gets to see what really goes on behind this facade of a perfect society. There are many different types of water that exist within this society and all of them have very different effects on different parts of the body. At first, readers will be led to believe that the water cleans everything, but as the series progresses, these ideas will be questioned. The first book in this series is called "Buku Darah Soonee" which means "The Book That's Inside Soonee."
The main character in Birodalem Carnegie is Soonee who is an ordinary girl living in an extraordinary world where everyone has glowing skin and shimmering hair because they bathe regularly in magical blue water. However, Soonee shows the reader that there may be more to this society than meets the eye. Despite her glowing skin and shiny hair, she is constantly sick and dying of mysterious illnesses that no doctors can explain or cure. The other main character in this series is Jeltoq who is Soonee's older brother. He loves her dearly and would do anything to protect her, even if it meant taking himself out of the equation by letting himself die young to save her.
This story takes place in the fictional city of New York, which has since been destroyed because of the attack of the M.U.T.O.s (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms) that brought it to ruins. The story is told through a series of found images, media reports and documents that were found in the city after it was destroyed by these massive creatures that came to earth because there was a nuclear power plant that had become unstable while they were hibernating within the city's underground sewers. In an attempt to destroy these creatures, scientists created three giant mechs called Jaegers which they used to kill off the M.U.T. O.s. However, one of the Jaegers turned on the other two and was ultimately destroyed in order to save the U.N. control room where all of the scientists were at the time. They were able to kill off this last M.U.T.O., but in doing so they also destroyed much of New York City with it, leaving only these documents that survived to tell the story for future generations to discover and learn from what went wrong with their efforts to defeat these creatures once they returned to earth after their hibernation cycle was over.
